Amend Indiana Code 20-19-2-2 to require that all 11 members of the Indiana State Board of Education be elected by the citizens of Indiana and not appointed by the Governor.

Why is this important?

Currently, 10 of the 11 members of the Indiana State Board of Education are APPOINTED by the Indiana Governor. Consequently, those positions are being used for overt political purposes. The constituents are not being served by the board. Instead, the Governor and ruling party of the Indiana General Assembly are being represented.

THIS MUST STOP!

I signed this petition for 2 reasons, first, because I am watching teachers spend hundreds of hours on paper work, and no time teaching kids Secondly, as an aid at a school I had to sign a paper stating that I would report bullying if I saw it. To the best of my knowledge everything that has taken place since Ms. Ritz took office, is basic bullying and it needs to stop, because we WANT her there.

I'm a voter, and we spoke for who we wanted.

Heartbreaking that politicians continue to take public education out of the hands of educators and the public to privatize it, all while not making private schools follow the same guidelines.
