Sign Now: Shut down Nestlé’s water bottling operationAt a time when Michiganders are forced to fight for clean, affordable drinking water in our communities, it is unbelievable that the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality would approve a permit allowing Nestlé to pump our water and ship it out of state for profit for practically free. The recent public comment period resulted in 80,945 comments against Nestlé’s increased bottling, and just 75 comments in favor. And yet, Governor Rick Snyder appears to have no interest in listening to the people of Michigan. Stand with Rashida Tlaib for Congress and Democracy for America and demand Gov. Rick Snyder’s administration shut down Nestlé’s greedy water bottling operation. Together, let’s make government work for all of us, not just the greedy corporate interests.
Petition: Get Alec Baldwin to appear as Donald Trump for the White House Correspondents DinnerDonald Trumps attacks and ridicule of the press and refusal to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner deserves an equal response of ridicule that will rally people around the issue of Trump's attempts to discredit and silence media critical of his administration. Alec Baldwin is the man to deliver the message.
DON'T LET NESTLE DRAIN US DRYThis issue is important because: - Nestle has an environmental impact on our watershed, - Nestle contributes little or nothing to our tax base, - Nestle pays little or nothing for the water they take, - Water is shipped off and doesn't re-enter our watershed, - Michigan citizens do not gain anything by the increase, - Nestle demonstrated miserly behavior in a time of need. Corporations which do not demonstrate beneficial citizenship should not be subsidized with hundreds of millions of dollars in resources and tax breaks. The Great Lakes water basin holds 20% of the Earth's fresh water, and should be regarded with care.
Draft Keith Ellison for DNC ChairmanDebbie Wasserman Schultz resigned as DNC chairwoman after WikiLeaks published emails showing bias against Bernie Sanders during the presidential primary process. Donna Brazile took over as interim chairwoman and has since faced scrutiny after further WikiLeaks releases showed she had shared a question with Hillary Clinton prior to a CNN town-hall event during the primary. The recent DNC chairs have been mired in controversy that ripped the Democratic Party apart from within. As we debated what really happened, who was to blame, and pointed fingers, Democrats lost the White House to one of the most controversial Republican candidates in history and face a Republican controlled House and Senate. The Democratic Party needs new, unifying leadership. Congressman Ellison has shown that he can bring both wings of the party together. He is a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, who selflessly transitioned from supporting Sen. Bernie Sanders during the primaries to trying to organize the left in support of Hillary Clinton. Congressman Ellison is someone that Democrats from both wings of the party can easily support. The same can’t be said for others interested in the position. He is the only choice that can reinvigorate grassroots rebuilding of the party more in line with America’s present and future. We need to move away from old school party establishment style politics that failed to energize the party and win the hearts and minds of American voters. He has already lined up support from close to 100 elected officials, state party chairmen and labor leaders including U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, RoseAnn DeMoro, Executive Director of National Nurses United, Lee Saunders, DNC Member/President, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Randi Weingarten, President, American Federation of Teachers, and more (https://keithfordnc.org/endorsements/). Rep. Ellison sits on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Democratic Steering Committee, which determines the party's platform and committee assignments. He also serves as a Chief Deputy Whip for Rep. Steny Hoyer, the Democratic Whip. Congressman Ellison has the experience and would be a step in the right direction to reform the Democratic Party from within as a consensus leader and heal the internal divide by bringing all sides together. For the sake of the Democratic Party and for the sake of our country, we demand that Congressman Keith Ellison be selected as the next Chair of the Democratic National Committee. Eliminate Direct Corporate Campaign Contributions in VermontSince 1907, federal candidates have been barred from accepting direct corporate contributions. Unfortunately, in Vermont candidates can accept contributions directly from corporate bank accounts. This prevents us from knowing the individuals behind those contributions. Matt Dunne, candidate for governor, has long believed that Vermont should eliminate direct corporate contributions to political campaigns to increase transparency and ensure that people – not corporations – hold the true power in our elections and in our government. That is why Matt has returned thousands of dollars in direct corporate contributions and called on the Vermont Legislature to introduce legislation that would eliminate all direct corporate donations to Vermont political campaigns. Stand with us in calling on the Vermont Legislature to eliminate direct corporate contributions to political campaigns. Sign the petition today!
Stop the delays: Fully fund our schoolsIt's been four years since the Washington Supreme Court ruled the state legislature was failing its constitutional duty to fund our schools. It's been nearly two years since the Supreme Court found the legislature to be in contempt of court for failing to comply with the court order. This is unacceptable, and we're fed up.

Stand up for fair elections in DC - support legislation to amplify the voices of small donorsBy passing a small donor empowerment bill in the District of Columbia, we can fight the influence of big money, empower our communities, and ensure every voter’s voice matters in our elections. These programs provide limited public matching funds to candidates who demonstrate robust public support and don’t accept large contributions or contributions from special interests or corporations. With this legislation, candidates will be able to focus their attention on people like me to support their campaign, instead of wealthy donors.
DFNYC petition to State Legislators- Pass the Voter Empowerment Act!The Voter Empowerment Act will require the Board of Elections to automatically register all eligible citizens in New York state to vote. Citizens would no longer need to register to vote, and would be able to opt-out online if they don't want to be registered. In addition, this would also require online voter registration tools to be provided, so citizens may update their addresses and find new voting locations quickly. The bill would also require the pre-registration of 16 and 17 year olds so that they may easily be added as active voters when they turn 18.
