To: Indiana General Assembly and the Office of the Governor

Make the members of the Indiana State Board of Education be ELECTED....not APPOINTED!

Amend Indiana Code 20-19-2-2 to require that all 11 members of the Indiana State Board of Education be elected by the citizens of Indiana and not appointed by the Governor.

Why is this important?

Currently, 10 of the 11 members of the Indiana State Board of Education are APPOINTED by the Indiana Governor. Consequently, those positions are being used for overt political purposes. The constituents are not being served by the board. Instead, the Governor and ruling party of the Indiana General Assembly are being represented.

THIS MUST STOP!

Reasons for signing

  • I signed, won't you?
  • I feel if the members are accountable to the people instead of one man then they will be more aware of the impact their vote has
  • Because of the bigotry displayed by our current IN Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches...
