End all plans for further reductions in CARTA bus service in the Charelston area and begin an effort to lead the public in a campaign for adequate funding. Build a transit system which meets the region's needs.
Why is this important?
After peaking in 2014, CARTA bus ridership has been declining. The cuts proposed will put CARTA into a downward spiral of cuts in service, lost ridership and revenue and more cuts in service. We need transit which goes to work, shopping, healthcare, educaiton, recreation and the beach to provide mobility, dignity and opportunity for everyone in the Charelston area.
