State House of Representatives, District 34
Born and raised in Thornton, Kyle’s story is one of hard work, success, and the result of a community that rallied around him. He was the only child to a single mother who worked two jobs to make ends meet. Even though his mom worked hard, it was never enough to put dinner on the table and keep a roof over their heads. By the time he was eight, they were living out of a car. Kyle knows what it’s like to not know where your next meal is going to come from. Those experiences drove him to ensure that other families don’t go through the same struggles his family did. As a Daniels scholar, he graduated from the University of Denver in 2008 with a degree in Real Estate/Finance. Knowing that he wanted to serve others, he entered the nonprofit industry to help families suffering from homelessness. While working with vulnerable populations, he discovered his passion for medicine, which led him to pursue a nursing degree. He now works in the emergency department, helping people in their most difficult times.
Overcoming the challenges he faced as a child, he wanted nothing more than to make sure that his family had a stable and safe community to grow up in and opportunities to thrive. It’s why he served on Northglenn City Council from 2013 to 2017, and why he now serves in the State House. As a State Representative, Kyle is committed to ensuring that every member of his community is able to enjoy healthy lives and to achieve their American dream. In his first term, he sponsored legislation to address the youth vaping epidemic, to strengthen workers’ rights, and to protect children from preventable diseases.
