Help elect Julia
Follow Julia:

Julia is a mom, wife, triathlete, activist, and neurologic physical therapist who treats adolescent student-athletes with concussions. She is a fierce advocate for her patients and is eager to bring this commitment to Cobb County schools. Julia grew up in South Florida, where she attended public schools and was active in Dance Theatre at Parkland’s dance company. She then attended the University of Florida where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s in Health Science. Afterward, Julia moved to Atlanta where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Emory University.

As a member of the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Institute, Julia is passionate about education policy that works to dismantle hate. She volunteers with Moms Demand Action, and serve as her daughter’s Girl Scout troop leader. Her family belongs to The Temple, a reform synagogue in Midtown Atlanta, and is involved in the Rothschild Social Justice Institute. Julia and her husband have lived in their current home for eight years, and they have a kindergartner named Ellie and a rescue lab mix named Chidi. Her family reflects Cobb’s diverse community: they have multiple languages, multiple ethnicities, and multiple religions all under one roof. They have more similarities than differences, and these differences make their family stronger. The same is true for Cobb’s local schools. Julia wants to amplify all of these voices in her community to ensure that every student’s needs are met.

Julia is running for the School Board to ensure that every student has access to quality education regardless of socio-cultural barriers or learning abilities. She wants every teacher to have the resources needed to lead students to success. The Cobb County School district is only working for some students, and it’s leaving other students behind. The recent global pandemic has highlighted these inequities in Julia’s community. Academic life has been challenging for everyone, but some kids are having more difficulty than others because basic needs, like food and access to technology are not being met. The final straw for Julia was when the incumbent (who has been unopposed since Julia was in college) made racist statements against some of the children he represents. It’s time to elect someone who can listen and represent not just some of their constituents, but all of them.
